Teaching Our Sons

08-31 / by Liz Scavilla / Leave a Comment

When you teach your son, you teach your son’s son.”
-The Talmud

I don’t have experience with having a son, but I can see where this quote could essentially solve world issues everywhere. Teaching your son kindness, compassion, love, respect, and so much more DOES trickle down. It really could be said for both sons and daughters, but for the sake of today’s post, let’s stick with what is means to have a son and teaching them. Whether your son takes over the family business and you teach them the tricks of the trade, or you simply teach your son how to drive a car or mow the lawn, they learn from you. Little children are like little sponges. They absorb EVERYTHING.

I had the chance to photograph three generations at Hammock Beach Resort in Palm Coast last week with this amazing family. The two little guys José & Xavier certainly keep their parents (and grandparents!) on their toes. They learn from each other, surely, but more importantly, they learn from their parents. And just as José II learned from his father, José sr., they will thrive and grow into young men themselves. Of course, us mamas play just as large of a role in teaching our children too. 🙂 Here are some of my favorites:

Here’s to teaching our future generations all the great things about family!
