Memories and Footprints

08-19 / by Liz Scavilla / Leave a Comment

Our memories of the ocean will linger on, long after our footprints in the sand are gone. ”
-Author Unknown

I love everything about a family beach vacation. The ocean is a place of calmness and serenity for me. Long before I knew the fullness (read: chaos) of life married with children, I used to drive to the ocean when I felt stressed, blue, or just plain bored. It has always helped put things in perspective for me. The sand between my toes, the battalions of waves barreling onto the shoreline, the salty spray of the air on my skin. The ocean has been a place of refuge for me since I can remember. As an adult, I have made a very conscious decision to live near the ocean in some form. I was lucky enough to grow up on an island in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean (yes, 30 miles out to sea, no bridge and no chain stores….made teenager-hood very trying….) And as a parent, it’s important for my daughter to enjoy beach time when we can. There is just something soothing about the ocean. I’m sure no one will disagree.

Living in a place that is known as The World’s Most Famous Beach is no exception to that rule. Daytona’s sunny shores provide year-round beachgoers a place to set their beach chairs and enjoy the water. I had an awesome time shooting photos for the Ransom family while they were on vacation. Their whole family was definitely able to make the most of their trip, here are some of my favorites:

Here’s to being able to always reflect back on our time at the beach!
